Update Afriana house Things are going very well in the Afriana house. The manager does a great job and makes sure everything goes well. Last month was one of many changes. Several children have been returned to the village or adopted. Some of these children have been staying in the Afriana house for many years and it is always a mixed feeling to see them go. Glad they can return to family or a new family, but sad because they will be missed so much. It will soon be strange to return to the same house with so many children who are no longer there. Now that several children are gone, we have room to help new children. One is Kelvin. Kelvin's mother was still very young, around the 18 year. She was expecting her first child and everything went well. When the contractions started she went to a local clinic, however the family is very poor and it took them a while to find money for the mother to go to that local clinic, walking was too far. By the time she arrived at the local clinic, the delivery was already in full swing and due to complications, she had to go to a better hospital as soon as possible. On arrival at the hospital she immediately gave birth to a beautiful boy. But because of the complications she lost a lot of blood. Only a limited amount of blood is available in the hospital. The mother had a rare blood group of which there was not enough. She died a few hours after giving birth. The family has asked if we can temporarily help care for Kelvin. The father is young and cannot take care of himself alone. The grandmother lives in Mozambique and already has many children to take care of. Kelvin now lives with us temporarily and like all the other children will receive a lot of love and care until his family can take over again. Update Teleza We are already more than that 7 months in the Netherlands and the desire to return is increasing. However, Teleza still has to be at least 1 will be operated on several times and so we wait patiently. Hopefully the operation will take place in the coming weeks, but this very much depends on the corona numbers and how many beds are available. Only emergency operations are currently being performed. There is very good news about Teleza's passport. Of 3 months appeal period on the court's decision in December has expired and Teleza is officially registered as a Dutch citizen in the municipality of Zundert. This also means that she is entitled to a Dutch passport, which has now been applied for. This means that she now has Dutch health insurance that will cover all future healthcare costs, and we are very grateful for that. Her sisters Diana and Maria are also doing very well. They are still having a great time at school and are very happy that swimming lessons have started again. They really like it in the Netherlands, but are starting to miss Malawi a lot now. We hope to be back in Malawi when the next newsletter comes out.
